"Helping Hands" are Brethren in Sons of Solomon Military Lodge #68 who see a need in their membership which they wish to address. They are not men who desire to "put a feather in their hat" nor "pat themselves on their backs" but rather Freemasons who have a genuine desire to help their fellow man. For example, as we progress in life and age, there are things that we just don't have the desire to do anymore and honestly should not any longer be doing. And what of one who has lost a spouse who they have shared life and duties with for many years.... and now realize just how much they depended on that partner. Many will say, "Well, I don't want to bother anyone else with my problems." or feel embarassed to ask for some help because "I've always been able to do that myself in the past." or some will ponder the thought, "They have something in mind.... what's in it for them?" Not asking for help when you really need it..... hurts no one but you. These Brothers have walked the same Masonic path, heard the same lessons and taken the same obligations as you have. Think back and remember some of the words you and they have heard, "Faith, Hope, Charity"...."Brotherly Love and Relief"...."....to contribute to the relief of poor, distressed worthy Brethren, their widows and orphans....".... "... if within the length of my cabletow....". Notice also the graphic above.... the one hand is definitely a Mason (the ring).... the other?... maybe... maybe not. We've heard the expression "more especially a Brother Mason".... it doesn't say "only a Brother Mason" Historically, Freemasonry has been honorably known for its involvement in community affairs. All of us are the Grand Architect's creations.... to not help someone in true need regardless of their affiliations would be wrong on our part and an injustice to that One in Whom we have openly proclaimed that we put our Trust in. If you should ask for some assistance, these men are not going to come to you expecting you to remember "them".... they are going to help you if they can.... and hope that you will remember that a "Mason" of a "Masonic Lodge" has done a good deed..... and that you will want to share the story with others.... that is all. If after reading this, you still feel uncomfortable about asking for help, simply tell them that you would like to remain anonymous.... and it will be done in that fashion. Simply stated, If you need help.... please ask us..... we care....and we want to help if at all possible.
